Artist statement: It is heartwarming to watch a father and child gently walking into a beautiful sunset. The moment is rich with tenderness as the warmth of the setting sun permeates the entire scene. Slowly following the boardwalk to the water’s edge, you can imagine his answering endless questions about the day’s events. Ultimately it is about love – between a parent and child, between God and His creations. We should always be mindful of this abundant love and the positive effect it can have on all the world.

Artist statement: Even a tempest sea experiences a tranquil moment as day slowly draws to a close. The mixture of warm and cool colors reveals the subtle transformation from day to evening that nature brings us each day. The progression of changing colors in the sky spreads its glory upon the landscape of trees and mountains cascading down to the sea, creating a vista of unimaginable beauty. We are blessed to bear witness to this daily gift from our Creator. It is always a wonder to behold.

$425.00

Artist statement: Over many years salt water has destroyed these shoreline trees where they remain as stark reminders of what once was. Just as the natural flow of nature and time causes unforeseen changes, it reveals a cautionary tale that our lives, too, are replete with unforeseen challenges. But unlike deeply rooted trees, we can alter our destiny and move on to higher ground with new designs for a brighter future.

$425.00

Artist statement: Nature’s bounty from the garden displays a rainbow of colors with assorted hues, shapes and textures reminding us of the never-ending splendor of flowers. Captured in a cool tin pot, the abundant, rich colors gently overlap and blend together to create a vision of harmony and peacefulness. The happiness this assortment of flowers provides is priceless.

Apocalyptic Evening at the Shore

$425.00

Artist statement: Nighttime brings out a natural caution in all of us, as we can no longer clearly recognize our surroundings. The familiar seems different, even foreboding. Darkness eerily overshadows the quiet beauty of the shoreline, and fright slowly creeps into our imagination. Our dreams easily transform into nightmares. The hand-like branches of a barren tree seem to reach out to grab us into this upside-down world. Anything real, or imagined, can happen.

My second pastime was exploring my family's old photos and imagining the stories within them. In my art, I have employed photography, mixed media, oils, and pastels, depending upon the narrative I want to create.

Marc Rifkin

Artist statement: I generally paint pastel landscapes & abstract acrylics. This painting which merges the two was inspired by my travels through Montana. Rather than “paint” the sky with a brush, I poured numerous layers of blue paint diluted to various strengths, allowing each layer to dry before pouring the next.
