Artist statement: This image was taken on a rainy day during our summer vacation. The kids spent the afternoon playing on the porch, and this hammock traded in its offer of leisure to become a surfboard. This child's imagination is incredible and always leads to something interesting and fun to photograph. Specific medium: Digital Photograph

Selected for Exhibition Artist statement: Cyanotypes propel me into a unique artistic process. It is a return to the basics of photography, nature, and art—a refreshing place to be in our digitally-focused world. The slow and steady process of mixing the solution, hand-coating the paper, laying out the botanicals, and waiting as the composition absorbs the sun is a welcome pace. My inspiration comes from my garden. I study the plants and contemplate how each one’s silhouette and its shadows will convey as a cyanotype. Specific medium: Cyanotype

Rosa Rugosa
Lauren Fenn
Artist statement: "There is a quality of life in Maine which is this singular and unique. I think. It's absolutely a world onto itself." - Jamie Wyeth
This quote came to mind the day I was photographing this beach. I'd set out to photograph the Rosa Rugosa, but the way the beach was enshrouded in fog pulled me in. The pops of pink from the flowers, the brightness of the driftwood that had washed ashore, and the mist softening the distant view made for a beautiful world onto itself. Specific medium: Digital Photograph
Coliseum Cat

Artist statement: I have always found wonder and beauty in everyday things. That is especially true when I travel. The Trevi Fountian is beautiful, but so are the flowers on a balcony or watching someone interact with their grandchildren.
