Freedom Hike
Cherie Davis
$325.00

Artist statement: The trail leads from suburbia up and down a rocky path into the circumnavigating woods. We followed the horse tracks, dog prints and signs of humans. I stumbled, tripping over some tree roots, on the now split-in-half tree. Hit by lighting, it lay directly in our way. The go-around to avert it made my feet wet in the muddy stream. At the end of the hill, were the tracks. Arriving at the railroad tracks, and the ability to get back, was a milestone journey of what I could do physically. Freedom!
Specific medium: Digital Photography

Taste of Autumn
Taste of Autumn
Deborah Donohue

Selected for Exhibition
Artist statement: When setting up this still life I was particularly interested in the unique way the light reflects off of the varied objects - the blue-green glass and its contents, the metal container, the folds and shadows in the cloth and in the center the brightness and beauty of the red apples. All this makes me anticipate the unique flavors of autumn.
Specific medium: oil on linen

Deborah Donohue

Artist statement: After I retired I began to dabble with acrylic painting and colored pencil. I then went on to more formal study - drawing from photos, still life, portraiture and en plain air using a variety of mediums - watercolor, graphite, charcoal and finally oils. After showing my daughter a scarf that I had finished knitting, she playfully put it on like a babushka. I snapped a photo and liked it so much I decided to challenge myself to "knit" with oil paints.
Specific medium: Oil on canvas
